The Leeds FA u17 team got their defence of the West Riding County FA Minor Cup off to a tremendous start with a last second win at Huddersfield.

Trailing by two goals for most of the game, Leeds grabbed victory from the jaws of defeat with two injury time strikes.

Early exchanges were evenly fought, But for Leeds Jason Davies on the left was giving Huddersfield defence some trouble & After a reckless late tackle by the Home fullback on Davies earned an early caution .

Leeds had 3 corners in quick succession & from the third of these somehow by ball eluded all the Hudds defence giving the Leeds no9 Ash Coffy a chance to shoot home 10 mins Leeds ahead.

Huddersfield responded well making the Leeds Keeper Gibson save well at the near post, Within 6 mins Huddersfield drew level when Leeds lost the ball on the halfway & the centre was punched out & fell to Huddersfield’s no 6 Martin who hit a first time shot past the Leeds rearguard 1-1 Hudds 16 mins.

Things got worse for Leeds when some nice passing around the Leeds box opened up for Wilson to easily score 2-1 Huddersfield 21 mins, Again Leeds responded & were looking dangerous with crosses that somehow were not converted & Taylor in the home goal looked in good form when Leeds got on target.

Against the run of play Huddersfield increased their lead when long range shot from Martin somehow eluded Gibson & slipped into the net 3-1 to Huddersfield 28 mins.
A stunned Leeds again had to find their rhythm but halftime came with score 3-1 Taylor in the home goal looked solid.

The Leeds manager kept the team out at the interval & made a tactical change at HT bringing on Casey Oriely on the right for Dylan Parr. Leeds needed a fast start & that’s what they got scoring within 3 mins of the restart, When Left back Josh Williams headed home from distance 3-2.

Again Taylor was the busier of the 2 keepers saving well from Andrews of Leeds & with Coffy & strike partner Preston chasing every ball the Huddersfield defence were being haressed.

Leeds 2nd sub was Harrison Bolton coming on for Tom Thorpe who had been in good form but a booking for Thorpe forced the change on 60 mins. The next Home attack saw a disputed free kick on the Leeds right side of the box put Huddersfield 4-2 up on 64 mins sweetly curled kick beating the defence into the top right corner of the Leeds net.

Within 6 mins Leeds who would not lie down were back at 4-3 when Davies cut inside & put a shot across Taylor in the home goal.
Leeds 3rd sub was skipper Allerston off again carrying a booking for Sean Cundall on 75 mins.

With Leeds throwing everything at the home defence who had battled hard to keep ahead .
Huddersfield breaking occasionally but Leeds chanced their arm & with 2 mins of normal time left Coffy grabbed his second from a narrow angle & found a gap 4-4.

Deep into injury time Coffy played in Nathen Preston whose strength on the ball was a feature throughout the game got past the last defender but was completely taken out ! penalty Leeds 95 mins
Nathen stepped & scored easily to give Leeds a dramatic win 5-4 what a game. What a fight back.
