WHARFEDALE

Leeds found their form early in the game to sink Wharfedale, with skipper Dave McKay controlling midfield in front of the usual solid Leeds defence.

Some good movement up front from George Lazaro & Bradd Hibberd started to cause Wharfedale trouble & with Matt Wood & Adam Todd starting to dominate the right flank the game swung Leeds' way.

On fifteen minutes Leeds took the lead from a fine through ball by to release Bradd Hibberd to run 20 yards before cooly shooting past the Wharfedale Keeper (1-0)

Wharfedale's response made little headway against the uncompromising Leeds defence with Sam Dibb & Sam Bradley dominating anything near the Leeds penalty area & Woody & Jake Williams at fullbacks completely snuffing out any wing play.

With twenty minutes gone Leeds nearly made it two when Luke Boyes shot from way out left brought a good save from the Wharfedale keeper & a couple of minutes later George Lazaro beat the keeper but saw his attempt drift just past the far post.

Wharfedale had no answer to movement of Leeds with the defence outstanding on the rare Wharfedale attacks that got anywhere near the Leeds box.

Leeds increased the their lead after 34 minutes when again Bradd Hibberd latched onto a loose ball near penalty spot to tease the defenders & somehow slip past 2 defenders before lobbing the keeper (2-0).

Just how dominant Leeds were was apparent when Ben Danby the Leeds keeper dealt with the first Wharfedale attempt with an easy catch on 42 minutes!!! HT 2-0 to Leeds.

Wharfedale started the second half brighter with their bolstered midfield having some success for the first time in the game but, this was only short lived as once again Leeds started to press the beleaguered Wharfedale defence with first, Blakey, the Leeds vice captain bringing out a good save from the keeper, then George Lazaro shooting just wide.

Leeds replaced Boysy on 55 mins who had a knock with Josh Townend who was quickly into action with a couple strong tackles to make his presence felt.

Leeds wrapped the game up after 60 minutes when George Lazaro's unselfish running opened up Wharfedale again & he finished off a fine move to make 3-0 to Leeds.

Leeds made a second sub straight away with Blakey making way for Tom Tempest who had shot on goal after a couple of minutes of being in the game.

Bradd Hibberd fired over after 65 mins but could not be denied his Hat trick on 70 mins when again catching out the defence with a well timed run from a through ball by he ran at the keeper & finished off in style with a cheeky dink over the keeper Leeds 4-0.

Bradd Hibberd come off to a standing ovation from both benches for an exceptional performance. He was replaced by Lwazi NCube on 72 minutes.

Lwazi made 5 nil when crashed in a shot from a loose ball from a Leeds corner after 78 minutes. Lwazi set the sixth goal when left wing cross was pounced upon by Adam Todd with a couple minutes to go to crash into the Wharfedale net.

A terrific performance by Leeds back four outstanding, Midfield Awesome, Attack Lethal.

LEEDS

The final league game for Leeds FA in group one at Ossett Towns FC Resulted in a well deserved 1-0 victory.

Both teams started brightly with some neat build up play around midfield but not progressing much past the first line of defence. Once the game settled down Leeds started to dominate possession in midfield & both Lazaro & Hibbard up front were proving a hand full for the opposition defence.

After 12 mins George Lazaro had a cross shot well saved by the home keeper & again 2 mins later he tipped a shot from Leeds right back Woody round the post.

Leeds should have scored when Luke Boyes was through on the keeper but put the ball wide of the post. With Leeds really driving forward only the home keeper kept Heavy Woollen FA in the game making further saves from George & Brad & a vicious shot by Adam Todd on the right side.

Leeds eventually took a deserved lead on 38 mins from a great cross field pass by George to Toddy who held off a challenge before volleying the ball past the keeper.
HT 1-0 to Leeds.

The Leeds keeper had not been troubled at all thanks to a great performance by the back four again.Leeds made a change at the break Scott Mathews replacing Jorden Blake in midfield.

Heavy Woollen started the sharper after the break finally bringing the Leeds keeper into action for the first time in the game. Heavy Woollen almost levelled after 50mins when a slip by the centre backs allowed the home striker through on goal but a great tackle back by Woody saved the day for Leeds, From the corner a looping header hit the top of the Leeds bar.

Leeds got back on track when first Brad Hibbard then Luke Boyes had shots again well saved by the home keeper. Then from a Leeds corner George saw his header cleared off the line.
With Heavy Woollen making all their subs in a bid to change the outcome Leeds brought on Leon Thompson & Luiaze NcCute for Brad Hibbard & George Lazaro who had run themselves into the ground .

Another great tackle by Woody in the Leeds box when the home team looked like they might score was the final danger for Leeds who kept most of the possession in the final minutes.
Another great defensive show by Leeds shows the strength in depth with both Josh Townend & Sam Dibb not available for this game, It will be tough to decide who will get the shirts for the Semi- Finals sometime in late March or April.

Man of the Match was Matty Wood for Leeds & the home keeper for Heavy Woollen.

LEEDS

Leeds started their game against Barkston Ash with great control on a very difficult surface due to overnight frost which had just about thawed at kick off.

Although Leeds showed plenty of ball possesion during the first half hour they did not managed to find the final pass to really trouble the Home keeper. George Lazaro made some great runs into the home defence without getting the final pass he deserved & Luke Boyes on the left side showing good pace when on the ball causing Barkston defence problems his crosses were not capitalised on in the home box.

The Leeds defence were in superb form when Barkston did get into the Leeds half with all the back four knocking the ball around with ease & Jorden Blake & Dave McKay in midfield getting plenty of the ball. Leeds finally broke the deadlock on 35 mins with Brad Hibbard scoring from close range . He put Leeds further ahead after 43 mins with his second goal from again close range. The Leeds keeper had never been troubled at all in the first 45 mins.
HT 0-2.

The second half started with Leeds in total control again Dave McKay carrying knock came off for Tom Tempest at the start of the second half & Tom got involved breaking fast from midfield & only the home keeper stopped him scoring with a good save.
Leeds went further ahead after 54 mins when George Lazaro rose well to head home from a great corner by Boyes 3-0 Leeds.

Leeds rang the changes after 57 mins with Nick Akondi replacing Adam Todd out on the right wing & within 4 mins Nick scored with a well placed shot for Leeds fourth goal after great work by Gearge Lazaro, With the final change Leeds brought on Leon Thompson after 64 mins taking over at left back from Jake Williams.

Leeds in full flow were overrunning the home defence & Bradd, George, & Luke all having shots tipped round the post by the overworked home keeper.

Bradd Hibbard finally got his hat trick with a 20yd shot after 67 mins which put Leeds 5 up.
George rounded off a great performance after 83 mins with great drive from outside the box to get Leeds sixth.

In the final couple of minutes the home side did cause Leeds defence a few problems & Ben Danby made an exellent one on one save to keep a clean sheet for the third time in four matches. Final score 6-0 to Leeds which should get Leeds into the semi finals.

Man of the Match went to George Lazaro but every Leeds player had a claim to the award for a fine team performance, Both centre backs Josh Townend & Sam Bradley were outstanding throughout both making their debuts in this competition.

HALIFAX

Leeds went into this game against top of the table Halifax looking to maintain there unbeaten record.

The visitors started the brighter, forcing 2 early corners but both were easily dealt with by Ben Danby in the Leeds goal.

Leeds conjured up their first real attack after 9 minutes when Jordan Blake passed to Brad Hibberd who, in turn, played the ball wide for the speedy Luke Boyes whose pace left the Halifax defence for dead and he coolly slotted home to give Leeds the lead.

The first half continued to be tight with Jake Williams clearing the only real chance for Halifax off the Leeds line, but Leeds were looking the stronger as the half finished with Halifax being restricted to long range shots which did not trouble the Leeds defence.

Leeds came out the stronger team after the break.  The flowing football that we saw in the first game was back and Halifax were struggling to cope with the movement. It was no surprise when Leeds went 2-0 up on the hour mark.

Luke Boyes again caused problems on the left hand side and it was his pass that found Adam Todd on the edge of the area.  Todd took a great first touch before lashing the ball into the roof of the net.  Leeds continued to push forward and a number of fine saves from the Halifax keeper made sure the game ended 2-0.

A thoroughly deserved win for Leeds which takes them to the top of the table with a game in hand.

HUDDERSFIELD

Leeds come back from 1-3 down to grab a vital point in the final seconds

The flying form that saw Leeds cruise to an easy win over Craven seemed to desert them in their encounter with Huddersfield on a wet and windy day at Farsley's Throstle Nest Ground.

Leeds suffered a set back in the third minute when Adam Hill netted for Huddersfield (0-1) but they were soon back on level terms when Brad Hibbard made the best of a defensive mistake to drill the ball past the helpless Huddersfield keeper..  (1-1)

The visitors restored their lead after 20 minutes when keeper Ben Danby suffered the dread of all goalkeepers by allowing a soft shot to slip through his fingers (1-2) and a third goal left Huddersfield looking comfortable at the half time break. (1-3)

With 15 minutes remaining, the game looked settled in Huddersfield's favour and, even when captain Dave McKay scored a second for Leeds with just five minutes remaining (2-3), there were few in the ground who would have bet on another Leeds goal but, with just seconds to the final whistle, McKay soared at the far post to head a right wing cross into the top corner. (3-3)

CRAVEN

It was the first game of the new season for the Leeds & District FA Under 17's verses Craven FA.

The early exchanges saw both teams playing a tight game with the only real chance falling to Craven who had a long range shot well saved by Ben Dandy in the Leeds goal.
Leeds crisp passing game though and began to see them stretch the visitors. A couple of excellent runs down the right wing from Adam Todd nearly resulted in the opening goal but Leeds just failed to score.

The Craven defence were beginning to drop deep as they were struggling to cope with the movement and pace of Brad Hibbard and it was no surprise when Hibbard linked well with Adam Todd to split open the Craven defence. Hibbard held off 2 challenges from the Craven defence and coolly slotted the ball in.

Leeds were beginning to move the ball from left to right and were unlucky not to increase the lead when captain Dave McKay linked well with Jordan Blake to fire narrowly over the bar.
But it was Leeds who were asking the questions and it was no surprise when they doubled their lead on the 39th minute. Another move down the right hand side saw Adam Todd's precision cross pick out Nick Akhondi on the edge of the area and his superb right foot volley gave the Craven keeper no chance. As the half time whistle approached Leeds pressed forward and after a flowing move Jordan Blake made it Leeds 3 Craven 0.

The second half saw Leeds continue to dominate. Craven tried to push forward but the Leeds defence, which was excellently marshalled by Sam Dibb looked in no mood to be breached. In fact it was the Craven keeper who was the busiest and he made a couple of excellent saves to keep them in the game. It was then the turn of the woodwork to come to the rescue as Dave McKay's long range effort came back off the post.
But Leeds continued to push, and a long ball from Jake Williams wasn't dealt with by the Craven defence which allowed man of the match Brad Hibbard to nip in and strike on goal. His effort was well saved but Leuiza Ncute was on hand to blast home the rebound.

It was a very good start for Leeds who played some excellent football and they are now looking forward to their next match at home to Huddersfield in late October.
