HEAVY WOOLLEN

LEEDS

Leeds playing against a strong wind weathered the early home team possession restricting the home forwards to long range efforts which did not trouble Ansbro in the Leeds goal.

Leeds got into their stride & caused Heavy Woollen problems by good link up play by Ash Slater & Joe Tasker down the Leeds left side Joe beating three defenders before hitting the post & Simon on the right wing firing into the side netting when well placed.

Leeds were forced into an early sub when striker Mark Simpson pulled a muscle & was replaced by Tom Hall on the right & Simon moving into centre forward position. Immediately Simon pace troubled the home defence, but he shot over the bar when in a good position.
The home number 8 Thompson was knocking some nice balls around but the Leeds defence coped easily with their forwards to such an extent Dan in the Leeds goal was not called to make a save in the first half. HT 0-0

The second half saw Leeds quickly out of their blocks pinning the home team back & taking complete control, Again Ash & Joe causing panic with some neat inter passing down the left side. The home keeper Bradley saving well from Simon & Josh. Finally Leeds went in front with a terrific strike from 25 yards by left back Ash Slater no one moved until it hit the back of the net after 56 mins  (0-1)

Rarely did Heavy Woollen threaten the Leeds back four, Parsley got a harsh booking for what looked like a clean tackle but Leeds with lots of possession failed to put the game safe & in the final mins Heavy Woollen nearly scored a left wing shot sliding across the goal mouth .
Leeds brought on Dom Staunton & Keelan Miller to sure up midfield for the last 10 mins & saw out 5 mins of injury time.

Another well deserved win, Again should have been 3 or 4 but 3 more points in the bag 6 from 6 .  Man of the Match several contenders but Ash Slaters overall performance topped off by as good a strike you will see this season anywhere.

BARKSTON ASH

LEEDS

Leeds started this years competition with a Comfortable 3-1 win away at Barkston Ash FA.

An even start by both teams but neither defence troubled early on.  The Leeds defence of Massey , Mason, Slater & Parsley keeping a good back line with Ash Slater & Joe Tasker prominent on the left for Leeds causing some problems for the home team but over hit crosses not troubling their keeper.

After 20 minutes Leeds took the lead when Tom Halls centre found Simpson on the left side of the penalty area & he volleyed past the home keeper Flowers who had no chance  (0-1).

Leeds looked in command with Jack Parsley having some good runs down the right & with Josh Maskill in midfield winning most tackles, When the home side did attack Danny Ansbro dealt with their efforts with ease.

The 2nd half started with Barkston relying on the long ball which the Leeds back four generally easily snuffed out.  Leeds went deservedly 2 up after 60 minutes when from good support play by Parsley & Hall supplied Jake Thornton who fired home from 18 yards  (0-2)

Leeds made their first sub with Tom Hird replacing Tom Hall in midfield on 65 minutes.  Leeds continued to dominate but poor finishing kept the game open.  A rare misplaced back pass let in the Barkston striker Marshall who easily beat Ansbro in the Leeds goal (1-2) a bit out of the blue & shook the Leeds side who generally had a grip on the game at the time.

Leeds made 2 more changes bringing on Barnes & Hartley on 70 & 75 mins for Staunton & Tasker with Dan Barnes going up front to pressure Barkston‘s midfield & defence.

From another fast break down the right with Parsley supplying Simpson who was fouled just outside the box from the free kick the rebound found Thornton who scored his second & Leeds third to finish off the home side  (1-3)

A good start by Leeds but will need to improve their finishing in future games.
Man of the Match Jack Parsley with terrific energy levels & rarely put a pass astray.
