National Game Strategy

HAVE YOUR SAY !
 
The West Riding County FA held a special 'National Game Strategy' regional consultation in March for local football leagues, clubs and other interested parties to have their say about the future of the game.
 
The event forms part of the FA's National Game Strategy which aims to set out the key priorities and targets for the Game up to 2012.

Hosted by Sky TV commentator John Helm at Bradford City's Valley Parade Ground, many topics were discussed with behaviour, referee's, facilities and funding being top of the list of issues considered as priorities for the FA to address.
 
The information and views collated at the event will form part of the strategy for the delivery of football in The West Riding County FA area over the next few years and will be aligned to The National Game Strategy which is due to be launched on 1st July 2008.

West Riding County FA would like to thank everyone who attended our National Game Strategy consultation event, held at Valley Parade last week.

Following the event, we asked all guests to fill out an evaluation form to help us further understand what issues they think West Riding County FA should be dealing with. Here is a flavour of what was said….

"I feel it was good that the WRCFA are now aware of the major issues with all forms of the game, i.e. facilities, behaviour and  funding all being fed down from the top of the game."

"Clearly a core of key priorities identified. It would be good to see these 5 or 6 items being addressed in a practical manner."

"My overall conclusion is that unless the discipline/behaviour issue is addressed and dealt with, then the game will decline. Good discipline and behaviour MUST start at the top levels."

"Communication needs to be improved at all levels to all people."

"A step in the right direction."

"Much of what has been discussed is very much what we have been hearing over the years. If some points discussed could be achieved through everyone’s efforts, perhaps we could say we are making progress. There is much to work for, if we are to move on."

"There was little discussion around girls/women’s football. I would be interested to know if there is a demise in 11-a-side women’s football. I believe there is."

"These events should be held more often !"

All the comments made were gratefully received and as we speak members of our team are using them to help write a draft of our Regional Game Strategy which we will have completed by April 7th. Once we get to that stage, we will again share with you everything we have planned.

We will also shortly be launching the new WRCFA newsletter. The aim of the newsletter is to keep you up-to-date with all the goings on at WRCFA Headquarters as well as allowing you to have your say on the work we do! As part of this we will be printing some of the comments made at the consultation event, along with answers written by out staff….so watch this space !
